This variety of Euphorbia is one of the impressive tree-forming spurges native to peninsular India and Sri Lanka. While its strength and rigidity makes it a fantastic addition to any sunny courtyard or desert garden, it grows well in containers and can also be treated as a houseplant. Its common name “Spiral Cactus” arises thanks to its distinctively unusual spirally-twisted spiny stems, designed to form an impenetrable barrier against predators for nesting birds.
