This amazing plant is one of Mother Nature’s little wonders. Plants produce a large corky caudex above the ground that will continue to expand up to a metre in size in a few hundred years.  The corky base is able to survive years without water and is perfectly insulated from the elements.  Over summer plants lose all of their leaves and stems.  New very fast growing runners then appear in autumn which are able to travel many metres before they die in spring, leaving the corm to rest over summer.

POSITION - Hardy and will do well in all climates. Under cover with as much sun as possible to keep plants dry in summer.  Indoors they will only survive in a sunny position.

WATER - Water regularly throughout winter months and rarely over dormant summer.
